Sure videoconferencing is a great way of sidestepping expensive business trips and accelerating the design process, but it also has its limitations. For instance, analogue yet ubiquitous brainstorming tools like whiteboards simply don’t show up well on camera. More often than not, that sketch of your latest product iteration or next quarter’s sales targets appear blurry and faint to your colleagues sitting in on the meeting from across the country. However that may all be about to change. Cyclops – a new free video collaboration service – is using augmented reality to bring old fashioned marker-boards into the 21st century.
Recently, I watched PBS’s new documentary "The Farthest", which told the story of the Voyager missions. The documentary made me nostalgic, because when I was a wee lass, I was enchanted with outer space. In fact, one of my childhood career goals was to become a robotics engineer for NASA (this was before I realized I was hopeless at math). I still hope that one day NASA will contract me to design rad decals for their next probe or rover.
I, like many other liberal arts majors, found myself lacking the technical skill set and business acumen coveted by today’s market after graduation. So naturally I turned to the web in an effort to round out my resume. However, what I discovered was a rapidly growing world of over 7,000 massive open online courses (MOOCs) and a very daunting question: How do all these e-learning platforms stack up against one another in the eyes of potential employers?
We at MindActive are admittedly a technical bunch – we’re always showing off our latest projects with cutting-edge web and digital technology (apps, holograms, motion graphics, and so on). However, this doesn’t mean we’re uninterested in more traditional forms of graphic design. On the contrary, we bring the same passion we have for those techie marketing programs to our print and logo design projects.
For many Office 365 users, the “Enable Macros” dialogue box inspires uncertainty and trepidation. Rather than simply clicking “Cancel” every time, here’s a helpful guide for understanding when to enable and when to steer clear.
